Sam's mom was kind enough to send us this update:
July 2, 2007

I thought I'd give you an update on how Sam's doing in L.A. (actually she just left L.A. Sat & is onboard the Golden Princess headed towards Alaska).

Quite an eventful month for Sam...she arrived in L.A. 6/2 & started learning choreography Monday, 6/4. On Wednesday she called to say she'd been made the lead dancer in the Latin shows! The other dancers apparently were somewhat annoyed because she's "the baby" (youngest) and it's her first contract. The other dancers range in age from 22-29 and are all seasoned on cruiseship life. Fortunately they got over it with a week or so.

The following week she called to say she and one other dancer had been given the spots of laras work. This work is similar to Cirque de Soleil performers if you've ever seen that where they do all sorts of "tricks" hanging from a giant metal hoop that is spinning. Very exciting! She received this training during her time at the dance studio and she loves doing it.

Finally, this past Friday (the day before they left L.A.) she was told she was the understudy to all the female back-up vocalists! This came as quite a surprise as she was hired strictly as a dancer. The shows primarily consist of music she already knows (but then she's an "old soul" and knows much of what would be considered "oldies" music) so while she may already know all the words she now needs to learn the back-up parts.

Personnaly, I don't know what else a dancer could want on a contract - let alone a first contract. Obviously I'm extremely proud of her (as you can probably tell!). I thought as her vocal teacher you would be pleased to know that your training has already served her well in her chosen career path. Thank you for everything...and I do mean everything...
